So here we are. It’s time to discuss the first week of this Juicing Adventure my husband and I began. Let’s call this phase in my life, My Juicy Adventure. As I mentioned in the Intro, I’ll be documenting my journey every day and posting it once a week.
Day 1 (2/11/2013):
In the morning I was pumped and ready to go. So what nourished my body today:
*oranges/grapefruit/strawberries/lime/cilantro. He was trying to be adventurous but cilantro didn’t really compliment the mix. It wasn’t HORRIBLE but it wasn’t the best.
*Green Goodness juice: Apple/Pineapple/Lime and Kiwi
*Carrots & Apple: my husband added too much stevia so I couldn’t drink it. He was gone at this time so I made so I replaced it.
* Banana, cinnamon tea (boiled a cinnamon stick with water and let it cool down), a little soy milk, and a little raw chocolate powder. (This was delicious and filling)
*Celery/Cucumber/Apple/Lime (one of my favorites)
I wasn’t hungry all of the day until the evening hit. But in all honesty I think it was more cravings than hunger. All I wanted before bed was vegetable broth. I wasn’t craving food itself, I was missing the saltiness and spices. However, I do have to admit I was a little tired. I took 2 naps. I do wish my husband had been with me today. He was out working on a project.
Day 2:
I woke up a little hungry but was fine after my first juice. My husband had it in the fridge by the time I woke up. He’s a keeper
Today’s Juices:
*Apples/Bananas/Kale
*Watermelon/Mango/Cauliflower/Grapefruit (I think I would have liked it better without the grapefruit but it was yummy (I drank two 16 oz cups)
*Collard Greens/Cucumber/Ginger/Apple/a little stevia
I was craving broth again at night, the solution:
*Lime juice with a pinch of salt
Today was a little difficult. But I survived. I wanted broth again but we resolved that by juicing a lime and adding a pinch of salt. I think the main problem was I kept looking at pinterest, which needless to say is going to have FOOD. Oh yes, and I had the bright idea to watch the spoon. Although I didn’t want to eat any of that food since it all contained a lot of animal protein.
Day 3:
*orange/grapefruit/peach-DELICIOUS
* celery/kale/strawberries/tomato/green bell pepper/watermelon
*carrot/apple/kale/beets
*orange/grapefruit/lime/collard greens
Today it was better but I did need a nap. However the only thing I found difficult was that I wanted to poke my eyes out the 5th time I saw a recipe inspired by red velvet. Red velvet is my favorite cake of all time.
Day 4:
*orange/grapefruit/peach
*banana/strawberries/cauliflower/kale/ginger/apple
* banana/raspberry/orange (2 servings) from Jamba Juice -that was our Valentines Splurge
Today was Valentines. To say I wasn’t a little tempted would be a lie. However I was stronger than my urge to break this. Today wasn’t too bad.
Day 5:
*oranges/grapefruit/peach/collard greens/lime
*Pineapple/strawberries/kale/celery/collard greens/ginger/cucumber
*mango/lime/orange/grapefruit
*shot of lime with a little water with a pinch of salt
Today was REALLY difficult for me. I still wanted broth. I’m not talking about just a little craving. It was, ‘I’m going to almost die if I don’t get broth now” obsessed. My husband convinced me to weigh myself to bet motivated. I can’t say it helped too much because I didn’t care about that. All I wanted was my broth! I can’t explain how much lime with a little of water and salt helped. It was almost no salt, just a pinch.
Day 6:
*oranges/grapefuit/kale/collard greens
*celery/watermelon/pineapple/lettuce
*Strawberries/Kiwi/Papaya/Protein Blend- From Jamba Juice >we were out and about and hungry
Today we went to Krogers because I was looking for something for this months #ClubSexy #Carabox and there was a BIG temptation GIRL SCOUTS. I’m telling you those cookies are evil-ey delicious. Ha! I walked away and without a problem. My hubby was tempted when we were walking the dogs. Someone was barbecuing.
Day 7:
*oranges/grapefruit/collard greens/cauliflower (LOVED IT)
*carrot/cauliflower/broccoli/baby spinach/kale/red bell pepper/green bell pepper/onion/tomato/cilantro/lime/cayenne pepper/pinch of salt/and water (WORST IDEA EVEEEEEEER)-We though if we lightly warmed it up (not boiling or super hot) it would taste like delicious broth. It was HORRIBLE. My husband and I couldn’t finish it. NEVER AND I MEAN EVER TRY THIS. You have been warned.
*Cinnamon Tea with stevia-didn’t drink it all
*kale/collard greens/spinach/blackberries/grapes/orange/grapefruit
Today was the easiest day for me. I am feeling pumped. I haven’t been hungry at all. That’s a win in my book!
Overall thoughts of this week:
Week one is complete. I think that is a major accomplishment. The weight loss is also a perk. Now we’re ready for week 2. See you next Wednesday with the upcoming updates.
