This past weekend we celebrated my Goddaughters first birthday party. Her mom came up with the idea of Dr. Seuss. As soon as she said that, inspiration and pinterest flooded our minds.
We knew her outfit would have to be super cute. I gave my husband ideas and he made the coolest shirt ever (in my opinion). Then we printed it on iron on paper and poof the shirt was ready. I couldn’t find the right colored tulle for the life of me. However I accidentally went to this place on Harwin (an inexpensive shopping area in Houston) called Bed Bath and Kitchen and couldn’t believe when I found two different tutu’s that were red and turquoise. She also needed an awesome bow to complete the outfit. The bow was made out of felt, with a huge button, a hat sticker and modge podge. I liked hers so much I made a mini version for her mom and me.
Her mom also ordered an awesome cake. It was gorgeously decorated. Not a single detail was missing. One layer was chocolate and the other was strawberry. The smash cake was also strawberry.
My friends friend and the baby’s grandma made the green eggs. They were so delicious Amelia was asking for eggs from every person she saw. She would get upset that we would only give her a piece at a time. She wanted the ENTIRE egg. There was also ham, hat fruit kabobs, koolaide, cupcakes with truffula trees, jello with red fish, hot dogs, and tons of other food. It was a lot of food, but with lots of helping hands, it was much easier than if my friend would have done this alone. It was a total success. Amelia tried everything at least once. She was happy the entire time even during her usual nap time.
We also had a little picture booth fun. The hair was a little more difficult to make because the paper wasn’t too thick but a few straws glued to the back to build a structure was sufficient to stabilize it. Can you tell I’m the one who put up the backdrop? it was too shore for most people except me and kids under 7. HAHA.
There was other things that we were going to have there BUT they stayed in Houston and we didn’t realize it until we were halfway to Dallas. This thing would have been so much fun. You can see it here. I’m not sure what to do with it. Maybe I’ll do a giveaway with it OR give it to someone on craigslist. It took my drawing challenged self several hours to draw it and 9 hours to paint it. I don’t want it to go unused. Any advice?
That was a super fun party. I can’t wait to be at many more important milestones in her life. I love this baby so much.
